How to install FileZilla in Ubuntu?

FileZilla Client is a fast and reliable cross-platform FTP, FTPS and SFTP client with lots of useful features and an intuitive graphical user interface.

To install Follow these steps :

1. Download the FileZile software FileZilla_3.2.0_i586-linux-gnu.tar.bz2 for AMD

Download filezilla_3.0.11.1-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb for AMD

2. Use this command to extract data.tar.gz file:
ar vx filezilla_3.0.11.1-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb

3. Then use this command to extract bin file :
tar -xzvf data.tar.gz

4. Create a menu item to add the application to menu:

sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/filezilla.desktop

Add the following:

[Desktop Entry]
Comment=FTP Client

5. Run FileZila Now :

Install VLC player in UBUNTU

VLC media player - the cross-platform media player and streaming server

VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.

To Install VLC in Ubuntu just run these commands:
1. sudo apt-get update
2. sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-esd

Now you are ready with VLC player, to run it go to Applications—>Sound&Video—>VLC Media Player.
